Posted by farmvillewebmaster on 2007/4/24 23:53:18 (1191 reads)

SALEM, VA (April 23, 2007)—Hampden-Sydney senior Scott Russell (Darien, CT/Darien) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Lacrosse Player of the Week and is the third Tiger to earn the honor this season. In a 10-9 win over Lynchburg College, Russell recorded 17 saves and grabbed eight ground balls to secure a Tiger victory. The honor is the first of the season for Russell.

Russell's 17 saves and eight ground balls were season-highs for the senior. On the season, he leads the ODAC with a 6.39 goals-against-average, while his .642 save percentage places him in the top five in the conference.

Russell and the rest of the Hampden-Sydney lacrosse team will return to action on Saturday, April 28, as the Tigers will host ODAC-foe Randolph-Macon College on Senior Day. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm.
